Ziiza Contest
We like to receive your comments on all of our books, especially, in this case, Ziiza. One way is to write or email. Another way is to enter our contest. Here's how.
1. Make a list of the clues you spot - historic people, places, events and lore - as you read along. Send your list. Citing the page number you found the clue on will help us evaluate your entry.
Or
2. Write a book review (and give Alder Press permission to publish all or part). Any reasonable length will do. It will be judged on writing quality and incisiveness. In other words, it should be a genuine book review, presenting both favorable and unfavorable comments.
Rules: Because entries will be limited in number, there is no deadline. Alder Press will review accumulated entries after a period of time (hopefully each year) and award separate prizes for the best clue list and the best book review. Entries received after a round is judged will be added to the next round. Judging is at the sole discretion of Alder Press, which reserves the right to postpone awards if sufficient entries are not received or quality does not warrant a prize. There is no entry fee.
Prize: A set of three trade paperbacks of Don Berry's historic novels of the Oregon coast, republished in 2004 by Oregon State University Press. They are: Trask (1960), Moontrap (1962) and To Build a Ship (1963). Or a set of two reference books: Trade paperback copies of Lewis A. McArthur's Oregon Geographic Names and Doug Brokenshire's Washington State Place Names. Winners may choose one set or the other.
